Uchida Ryu Tanjojutsu
Tanjojutsu is the last weapon to be incorporated into the curriculum of SMR jodo. It was developed over a century ago at a time when Japanese men were beginning to adopt walking sticks during the Meiji era. Tanjojutsu was designed to be used against sword-wielding criminals. It is also a very effective art against opponents armed with all kinds of weapons and empty-hand attacks. Tanjojutsu kata tend to get right to the point quickly with the intention of stopping an attacker through strikes or joint locks.
